THOSE DAYS!
Today it was the "Annual Sports Day". I loved it. I got up early, finished all my work & got set to be in Nehru Stadium on time. Pearl, Emerald, Ruby & Sapphire were in full force. March past, the first event.....,remembered the practise & the hours of hard work. Those times when we stayed back just to make sure our house wins. Putting our best food forward to make sure each one is there to represent the house!
What pride! Every heat for the track & field events in full attendance to see that the house each one represents wins. What patriotism!Loved the jealousy when it came to victory of my house.
Today the score board showed Emerald in the lead!I was thrilled! Every event had a representative from Emerald. I didn't know them personally but the "green T-shirt" was all I cheered for. The cheering , the clapping and the laughter that came with victory.... the shocks and the disappointment that came with defeat....God I knew it all once & today I felt it all over again! Each time there was a race...the adrelanin would go pumping.
Emerald won & took the trophy... What a proud moment!!
Only this time I was cheering for the house my kids belonged to. Thank you Chiraag & Dhruv you took me back to my sports day. One of the blessings of having kids...
YOU RELIVE YOUR CHILDHOOD THROUGH THEM.

Nice to know about your children's sports day. It would have been great if you had published few photos of them too. It did bring great memories. Sports days are great and it brings so much of unity and team spirit among kids.
True Balaji! I think the idea of having sports day in school is to make us bond with the people who belong to our group immaterial of whether u know them or not. Later in life it refers to our country in the larger perspective.

Yeah I too enjoyed seeing my son Omja at his march past, mass drill and aerobic dance...and consoled him when he couldn't win in the 100 and 200 metres he was selected to participate. Reminded me of our Marie Curie (yours!) Frances Baker (mine) Helen Keller, Pandita Ramabai and Alice Greene! What great march past and mass drill Ewart School students used to do - thanks to our surrender to the discipline of the school!
